Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has reacted to India's Operation Sindoor, which involved targeted attacks by the Indian forces on terror camps in Pakistan on the intervening night of May 6 and 7.

He said that while no one in the country wants a war, it was not India who started this and in fact, Pakistan had started this with the killings of innocent civilians in Kashmir's Pahalgam on April 22.

"It began with Pahalgam where our 26 innocent civilians were killed and the government had said that we will get a befitting reply...This was the right method to reply...only terror sites in Pakistan were hit, not military area or civilians," he was quoted by ANI as saying.

"But, Pakistan has bombed some of the areas, our civilians were targeted in it. They started it, not us...we were living peacefully...we did not start this...none of us want war...we want the situation to improve again, but first Pakistan needs to lower their guns," he further said.

India's Operation Sindoor

India woke up to the news of targeted attacks in Pakistan by India on the intervening night of May 6 and 7. A little before 2 am, Indian Armed Forces launched military strikes in nine locations of Pakistan and PoK in a joint military action called Operation Sindoor. The Indian Armed Forces targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan.

Later on May 7, India held a media briefing on Operation Sindoor and informed that the joint military operation lasted around 25 minutes. The strikes started at 1:05 am on Wednesday and ended by 1:30 am.
