PM Modi said the journey of Hirod Patel was “truly inspiring”.

In the 131st episode of his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Sunday, highlighted the story of a young farmer from Odisha as an example of innovation in agriculture.

Addressing the nation, PM Modi said the journey of Hirod Patel was “truly inspiring”. He noted that until about eight years ago, Patel cultivated paddy in the traditional manner alongside his father, Shiv Shankar Patel.

“About eight years ago, he used to practice traditional paddy farming with his father. However, he began to look at agriculture from a new perspective,” the Prime Minister said.

PM Modi explained that Patel introduced a new method on his farm by constructing a strong net structure over a pond in his field and using it to grow vine vegetables. The Prime Minister cited this as an example of how farmers are adopting innovative techniques to enhance productivity and diversify income sources.

PM Modi frequently uses the programme to spotlight grassroots initiatives and individuals driving change across sectors, particularly in rural and agricultural communities.
