A 19-year-old student from Tripura has alleged that she was assaulted and abused by her live-in partner in Haryana’s Gurugram, leading to the registration of an FIR and her admission to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. The case has triggered police investigation into serious allegations of physical violence and sexual assault.
According to police, an FIR was registered at Badshahpur police station on February 19 following a complaint by the victim.
On Sunday, the victim’s mother described the alleged abuse in detail while speaking to ANI. She said her daughter called her late on Monday night and narrated the events in Bengali so that the accused would not understand the conversation.
“A man named Shivam has been assaulting me for the last 3 days. He hit me and also burnt me, he will kill me today,” the mother quoted her daughter as saying to ANI.
She alleged that the accused confined her daughter in a room for three days, assaulted her repeatedly and inflicted injuries using a knife. She also alleged that her daughter was subjected to sexual assault.
Following the distress call, the mother contacted emergency services by dialling 112. Police reached the location and admitted the victim to a government hospital before she was shifted to Safdarjung Hospital for treatment.
In her statement recorded in the FIR, the 19-year-old alleged that the accused forced physical relations under the pretext of marriage. The two subsequently began living together in Gurugram.
During this period, she alleged, the accused began doubting her and subjected her to repeated physical assault.
The victim, originally from Tripura, is pursuing a BSc in Biotechnology and was residing in a paying guest accommodation in Gurugram. She reportedly met the accused, a resident of Narela in Delhi, through an online app in September 2025. The acquaintance later developed into an in-person relationship.
Police have registered the case under relevant provisions and said an investigation is underway. No official confirmation has yet been given regarding arrests.
The victim remains under medical care, and further legal action will depend on medical findings and the course of the investigation.
