A day after being released from jail following Supreme Court's verdict, senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia called upon party workers as well as people to fight against the "dictatorship" in the country.
"Leaders are being jailed. Laws that are used for terrorists and drug mafia the world over are being applied on politicians, businessmen and common people to keep them in jail for a long time and stop their bail application. This is dictatorship and it is being carried out against the country’s ordinary citizens. The entire Opposition will have to unite and fight against this," said Sisodia.
The Supreme Court granted bail to Sisodia on August 9 in cases related to alleged corruption and money laundering connected to excise policy scam. The court noted that Sisodia's extended detention of 17 months without trial had deprived him of the right to speedy justice.
On AAP supremo and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is also in jail in the case, Sisodia said he is the symbol of honesty in the country.
"From Kashmir to Kanyakumari, if you ask people on the road who is Arvind Kejriwal, then they will say that he is the one who has been doing great work in Delhi with honesty. Kejriwal's name has become an example of honesty in the country. BJP has failed to set an example of honest work in any state. They (BJP) are hatching all this conspiracy just to tarnish his (Arvind Kejriwal) image," he said.
Sisodia also stated that if Opposition leaders unite against the "dictatorship", Kejriwal will come out of jail in 24 hours.
Sisodia told AAP workers that "we are just horses of a chariot but our real 'saarthi' (charioteer) is in jail, he will come out soon". On his bail verdict, Sisodia said the Supreme Court used the power of the Constitution to "trample dictatorship" yesterday.
