BJP’s member of Parliament and Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut launched a scathing attack against Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, saying the main opposition party needs a better face to save itself from going into oblivion.

“I think the Congress party itself is ashamed of Gandhi's behaviour. The party has no future but if they want to save themselves then they need a better face,” the actor said at the Rising Bharat Summit 2026 on February 27.

Ranaut also termed Rahul Gandhi’s behaviour as similar to “taporis and mawalis”.

The behaviour of Rahul Gandhi in the Parliament is similar to taporis and mavalis. The way he talks to BJP leaders and behaves... it won't be surprising if he stoops even lower.

Ranaut said Mahatma Gandhi had wished to disband the Congress after India’s independence. However, Jawaharlal Nehru didn’t listen to him. “I think Rahul Gandhi will fulfil his wish,” she said.

Referring to the Youth Congress workers' protest at the recently held AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, Ranaut termed the incident "shameful" and "condemnable". She slammed Gandhi for backing the protesters, saying the Congress leader has "lost his mind".

Whenever Rahul Gandhi speaks in the Parliament, Ranaut said it feels like a "comedy" and BJP MPs could not stop laughing. "He is like a Raja beta. He is used to everyone cheering him on...I would also say that he is very disrespectful... he has disregard for the Parliament, for the Constitution and the people of the country."

Ranaut said Gandhi is "dangerous" for the country and also an "idiot". "He is a puppet in the hands of foreign powers," she said.

Last year, the actor faced back clash after asking flood victims in Himachal Pradesh to consider her position as well, referring to her cafe in the state that was apparently not very profitable.

"Imagine what I must be going through...I also have a restaurant here. Yesterday, I only did Rs 50 worth of business. I have salaries of Rs 15 lakh to pay. Please understand my pain too, I am human as well," she said, while speaking to a woman who was asking her questions related to the floods.

With this, Ranaut urged the woman to also take into consideration her pain as she explained all about financial losses in her cafe business.
