India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Thursday said he spoke with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi regarding the ongoing conflict in West Asia.
In a post on X, Jaishankar said, "Had a telecon with Iranian FM Seyed Abbas Araghchi this afternoon @araghchi."

The EAM also spoke to Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi earlier in the day.
India’s outreach to Tehran now comes twice in six days—first at the outbreak of hostilities and again on Day 6 as the conflict widened. The back-to-back calls underline India’s effort to remain actively involved as tensions escalate in West Asia, a region crucial to its energy security and the safety of millions of Indian nationals.
In the first call, Jaishankar had conveyed India’s “deep concern” over the unfolding situation and emphasised the need for de-escalation. The Ministry of External Affairs then issued an official statement saying India is “deeply concerned at the recent developments in Iran and the Gulf region".
India has already urged all sides to exercise restraint, avoid escalation and respect sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Foreign secretary Vikram Misri on Thursday signed the book condoling Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s killing, which has been laid out in the Iranian embassy in New Delhi, on behalf of the central government.
Misri offered his condolences towards Khamenei’s death in joint Israel-US strikes on February 28, as the two countries launched ‘Operation Epic Fury’ against Iran.
Misri also met Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh, who also visited the embassy to sign the condolence book.
While India has called for resolving the West Asia crisis through dialogue and diplomacy, it has refrained from issuing any direct statement on the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. The foreign secretary’s visit, therefore, is being viewed as New Delhi’s first official acknowledgement of the leader’s death.
The move is significant as several opposition parties had criticised the Centre for remaining silent on the strikes against Khamenei.
