'Jahan milenge babu shona, tod denge kona kona': Ahead of Valentine's day, warning posters surface in Patna

The posters came up in Patna ahead of Valentines Day

Ahead of Valentine’s Day, the Hindu Shivbhawani Sena has put up posters across Patna protesting the celebrations, describing the occasion as contrary to Hindu culture and issuing warnings to couples, media reports said. Similar posters have reportedly appeared in Madhya Pradesh.

The posters, seen on streets across Patna, carried the message, “Jahan milenge babu-sona, tod denge kona-kona.” The Hindu Shivbhawani Sena stated that Valentine’s Day promotes obscenity and “love jihad,” and is against Indian culture.

According to the group, celebrations that begin with chocolates and escalate on February 14 violate cultural values. The Sena said that if such “obscenity, nudity, religious conversion, and love jihad” occur in Patna, its members would take action using sticks and batons to “teach a lesson.” The organisation added that its teams will keep a close watch on couples during the day.

The posters also urged people to pay tribute to martyrs, noting that the Pulwama attack had occurred on Valentine’s Day, and that the day should be used to honour the soldiers who lost their lives.

The move drew strong criticism from the RJD. Spokesperson Ejaz Ahmed said, “BJP and its affiliated organisations only speak the language of hatred and are plotting to destroy love through hate. All BJP-supported organisations want to spread conflict and hatred in society. Such people only know how to break, not to build.”

The posters come amid ongoing debates over the celebration of Valentine’s Day in parts of India, reflecting tensions between conservative groups and supporters of the festival.
