Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday addressed a special plenary session of Israeli Parliament Knesset, where he highlighted the strong bond between Israel and India.
Modi’s address came as he reached Israel on a two-day official visit on Wednesday.
After he concluded his speech, members of Parliament lined up to meet and take photographs with him. Videos of the moment went viral across social media platforms.
Modi spoke before a full Knesset chamber, marking the first time an Indian Prime Minister had addressed Israel’s parliament. He highlighted the enduring partnership between the two democracies and reiterated mutual support for peace and development.

During his address, Modi also expressed condolences for the October 7 Hamas attack in 2023, asserting that India “stands with Israel, firmly, with full conviction, in this moment, and beyond”.
“I also carry with me the deepest condolences of the people of India for every life lost and for every family whose world was shattered in the barbaric terrorist attack by Hamas on October 7. We feel your pain. We share your grief,” he said.
“No cause can justify the murder of civilians. Nothing can justify terrorism. India has also endured the pain of terrorism for a long time. We remember the 26/11 Mumbai attacks and the innocent lives lost, including Israeli civilians," the PM added.
PM Modi asserted that just like Israel, India has a consistent and uncompromising policy of zero tolerance against terrorism, with no double standards.
Meanwhile, PM Modi was conferred with the ‘Speaker of the Knesset Medal’ on Wednesday in recognition of his exceptional contribution to strengthening strategic relations between India and Israel.
He is the first leader to receive this medal, which is the highest honour of the Knesset.
Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana presented the award to the Prime Minister following his address at the Israeli Parliament.
