The Enforcement Directorate on Tuesday arrested Al-Falah University founder Jawad Ahmad Siddiqui under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), officials said. The agency is also examining whether proceeds of the alleged laundering were routed for terror activities, including any possible links to the suspects involved in the Red Fort blast case.

Delhi courts on high alert

Judicial activism must not become ‘adventurism or terrorism’, says CJI Gavai

Chief Justice of India BR Gavai on Monday cautioned that judicial activism should never slip into “judicial adventurism or judicial terrorism.” Speaking at the launch of former Allahabad High Court Chief Justice F.I. Rebello’s book Our Rights, he said constitutional courts must intervene when the executive or legislature fails to safeguard citizens’ rights. Gavai added that while activism is essential, it must operate within limits, and praised the book for addressing contemporary challenges facing the judiciary.
