Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday said that there is no room for politics in developmental works, noting that he works in coordination with everyone for the sake of nation's development.
Speaking at the News18 Rising Bharat Summit, Gadkari, while responding to a query on whether he faces roadblocks when dealing with non-BJP CMs for infrastructural works, Gadkari said, "Never! I straightaway dial them and speak to them when there is any problem, whether Mamata Ji (Banerjee) or (MK) Stalin... I sometimes get angry on Karnataka CM too, saying these many projects are stalled. Last time when I met him, I told him that I can start works to the tune of Rs 10,000 crore, but they are stuck because of the pending projects. This time when he came, he cleared 26 out of 38 proposals. So, there is no scope of politics here..."
During the conversation, Gadkari said he had given two suggestions to Siddaramaiah - one to build tunnels in Bengaluru to deal with the traffic issue and the second was to built three-layered flyovers, instead of single-layered.
He also said that the department had undertaken developmental works to the tune of Rs 1 lakh crore in Delhi, aimed at dealing with the issues of traffic congestion and air pollution.
Last week, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah met Union Minister Gadkari to request central government approval for several road projects, including the Bengaluru-Pune Greenfield Expressway and tunnel roads in Bengaluru. He also pledged to expedite land acquisition and utility relocation for existing highway projects, according to a government statement.
