According to the India Today report, the incident took place on Sunday evening, December 29, when traffic was snarled along a busy stretch of road in Meerut.

The incident is said to have occurred around 7 pm when vehicles were stuck bumper-to-bumper due to congestion. The woman officer, travelling in a Hyundai i20, allegedly lost her temper after being stuck in the jam and began hurling abuses at motorists ahead of her from inside her car.

The situation escalated when she stepped out of her vehicle and confronted a couple seated in another car, allegedly over not giving way. The video shows the officer arguing aggressively on the road as the male occupant questions the language being used. The exchange quickly turned heated, with the officer issuing threats during the confrontation.

As the argument unfolded, a crowd gathered at the spot, and several onlookers recorded the scene on their mobile phones. One such video later surfaced online and spread rapidly across platforms, with users questioning the conduct of a police officer in uniform and demanding strict action.

The report said the woman seen in the video has been identified as Ratna Rathi, a police sub-inspector posted in Aligarh. She was reportedly returning from Saharanpur on official duty and was passing through Meerut when the incident took place.

Police have acknowledged the viral video and said the matter is being examined. Officials stated that an enquiry will be conducted and appropriate action will be taken if a formal complaint is received.
