10 members of the Hindu Raksha Dal have been arrested by the Ghaziabad police for allegedly distributing swords from their office in Shalimar Garden. They were arrested after a video of the incident went viral on social media.

A case has been registered against 40 people at the Shalimar Garden police station. Of these, 30 are yet to be identified. The investigation began after officials received information on December 29 about the distribution of swords at the HRD office in Shalimar Garden X-2.

Those arrested have been identified as Kapil Kumar, Shyam Prasad, Arun Jain, Rampal, Amit Singh, Amit Kumar, Amit Arora, Mohit Kumar, Devendra Baghel and Ujala Singh. Police said all of them were linked to the Hindu Raksha Dal.

The case has been registered under sections 191(2) (guilty of rioting), 191(3) (guilty of rioting, being armed with a deadly weapon or with anything which, used as a weapon of offence, is likely to cause death), 127(2) (wrongful confinement) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Trans Hindon) Nimish Patil said.

Police teams are raiding the hideouts of the group members who took out a procession in the colony. Raising pro-Hindu and anti-Muslim slogans, they went door-to-door in the area, distributing weapons.

"Police will not permit any outfit to disturb harmony and law and order. All the named and unnamed accused will be nabbed soon. All of them are currently absconding," Patil said.

The main accused in the case, Bhupendra Chowdhry ‘Pinki’, who is the national president of HRD, is currently evading capture. After the arrests, Chowdhry posted a video on social media claiming that swords had been distributed earlier that day. He stated that a large number of police officers arrived at the office, and some of his supporters were taken into custody.

In a separate video, Bhupendra announced that 250 weapons had been distributed among individuals to defend themselves against Muslims who "attack Hindu families and molest Hindu girls and women."

He said, "Hindus must be well-equipped with weapons to fight against Muslims. The Hindu Raksha Dal will support the Hindu community. The condition of Hindus in Bangladesh is currently very dire, with many being killed. We will not allow the plight of Hindus to deteriorate to that of Hindus in Bangladesh."

DCP Patil said police are keeping a close watch on the law and order situation in the area, which is surrounded by Muslim-dominated areas like Shaheed Nagar and Pasonda village.
