A passerby’s quick action reportedly helped rescue two minor sisters, aged 8 and 6, from a 29-year-old auto driver who had kidnapped them and sexually assaulted the older girl in a forested area of Manesar.
The accused, Sarvesh, is married with a daughter and lives alone in Kasan, while his family resides in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh, according to a report by The Times of India.
The sisters were playing with other children at a ground in Manesar around 5 pm last Saturday when Sarvesh approached them with chocolates and other treats. He allegedly offered the girls a ride in his auto and took them to an isolated spot. There, he allegedly sexually assaulted the older sister while the younger remained in the vehicle, states the report.
A passerby noticed the incident and immediately raised an alarm, informing the authorities. Following this, police teams, including the Manesar crime branch, rushed to the scene. The accused fled, leaving his vehicle behind.
Both girls were reunited with their family and underwent medical examinations.
Multiple police teams were formed to track Sarvesh.
On Monday, the crime branch located him as he was attempting to flee via the KMP Expressway. Upon seeing the police, he jumped from a flyover in Pachgaon, fracturing both legs. He was taken into custody and is receiving treatment at a local hospital.
Sarvesh has been named in a First Information Report (FIR) under sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at Manesar police station.
