Mukesh Ambani, chairman of Reliance Industries, and Nita Ambani, founder-chairperson of Reliance Foundation, along with Isha Ambani, hosted former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton at their Mumbai residence for an evening celebrating friendship, dialogue, and a shared appreciation for art and culture.
A video shared by the official Instagram handle of Reliance Foundation captured moments from the reception. The clip begins with the Ambanis welcoming Clinton at the entrance of their home. Greeting her with the phrase "Atithi Devo Bhava," Nita Ambani translated the sentiment, saying, "That means the guest is our god."
One of the highlights of the evening was a specially arranged live sitar recital. Two musicians, dressed in traditional sarees, performed as part of the welcome ceremony. Nita Ambani lauded the artists during the interaction, remarking, "They are so beautiful themselves, beside playing beautiful instruments... We are so proud of both of you."
The video also shows the hosts personally guiding Clinton through their home, drawing attention to elements of Indian art and heritage. In the closing moments, Isha Ambani is seen greeting Clinton and joining the conversation with her mother and the former US diplomat.
The accompanying caption described the gathering as a celebration of friendship and culture, noting that the evening was brought alive by India's artistic traditions, including a soulful sitar recital and showcases of crafts such as Gulabi Meenakari and delicate Sozni embroidery.
Clinton's visit comes shortly after her prominent participation at the inaugural Mumbai Climate Week, where she underscored India's growing leadership in climate innovation and adaptation.
Calling for immediate, collaborative action beyond US political timelines, she said, "We cannot wait for the political change that I know will come to the United States. We have to build the models here. We have to do the innovation here." Describing the event as a transformative milestone, Clinton added that the inaugural climate session in Mumbai marked the beginning of the change needed to address global climate challenges.
