The seven-year-old girl from Ghaziabad, who was allegedly beaten to death by her father and stepmother, suffered multiple fractures in her ribs and internal bleeding.

According to the autopsy report, there were extensive injuries on the child's body besides several fractured ribs and internal bleeding in her head and chest. The victim has been identified as Shifa.

"The autopsy report indicated that the girl suffered 13 injuries on her body due to beating by her parents. The child's father and step-mother, who are yet to be arrested, have confessed to assaulting her at their Dasna residence on Sunday night. The accused couple, Mohammad Akram and Nisha, took the unconscious girl to a hospital, where she was declared dead. They were detained on Monday.

ACP Pal said Akram's first wife, Tarana alias Gulzar, died of burn injuries in 2022. One year later, Akram married Nisha. According to reports, Tarana's brother earlier informed police that the stepmother and the father used to regularly beat his sister's three children.

Police said a formal complaint was filed on Tuesday by the girl’s grandfather, Mohammad Zaheer—the father of her biological mother—at the Wave City police station. Based on his complaint, an FIR has been registered in the case under charges of murder.

According to the station house officer (SHO) of Wave City police station Sarvesh Kumar, the accused couple beat the child 'severely' on Saturday and Sunday "and even left her on the terrace at night in the cold".

"On Sunday night, when the girl went unconscious after suffering a beating, they rushed her to different hospitals, but the girl died around 3am on Monday. As per the autopsy report, the girl suffered severe injuries after being brutally beaten by the two suspects. We will check the documents of the related hospitals as part of the investigation," the SHO told HT.
