Former Kaiserganj MP and ex-Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh was attending an event in Uttar Pradesh's Gonda when he stumbled, lost his balance and fell face-first on the stage. A video capturing the on-stage fall has since gone viral on social media.
The incident reportedly took place on January 8 during an eight-day National Katha Mahotsav in Nandani Nagar. The programme marked the closing day of the religious gathering, during which Saint Riteshvar Maharaj was invited to deliver the Katha. The BJP leader turned 69 on January 8, the day he tripped and fell on stage.
In the widely-circulated video, Brij Bhushan is seen standing on a raised stage and moving close to its edge. All of a sudden, he appears to lose his balance and tumbles forward, plunging head-first onto the ground below.

However, the former MP stood up immediately after the fall and appeared unfazed. A large crowd had gathered at the venue on the final day of the Katha Mahotsav.
To mark his birthday, Brij Bhushan took part in a 10km roadshow and reached Nandini Niketan temple where he offered prayers. A Haryana couple reportedly gifted the ex-MP a horse worth Rs 2.5 crore imported from London.
Nearly 2,000 seers from Ayodhya and schoolchildren were present to greet the BJP leader on his 69th birthday. As part of the celebrations, Brij Bhushan hosted a grand community feast for 5 lakh people.
In 2023, six female wrestlers accused the former head of India's wrestling federation of sexual harassment. Singh pleaded not guilty, maintaining that he had committed no wrongdoing.
A six-time MP who represented three parliamentary constituencies in Uttar Pradesh’s Devipatan division, Brij Bhushan was denied a BJP ticket in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections following the sexual harassment allegations.
