The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on Monday successfully flight tested a third-generation fire-and-forget Man Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile (MPATGM) with top-attack capability against a moving target, the Ministry of Defence said.
A video shared by the DRDO X handle shows a successful missile firing during a weapons trial conducted in the KK Ranges at Ahilya Nagar in Maharashtra on 11 January.

According to the ministry, the indigenously developed missile utilises advanced technologies, including an Imaging Infrared (IIR) homing seeker, an all-electric control actuation system, a fire control system, a tandem warhead, a propulsion system, and a high-performance sighting system.
These systems have been developed by DRDO laboratories, including Research Centre Imarat, Hyderabad; Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory, Chandigarh; High Energy Materials Research Laboratory, Pune; and Instruments Research and Development Establishment, Dehradun.
The Thermal Target System was developed by the Defence Laboratory, Jodhpur, to simulate a target tank. The IIR seeker is well-suited for day and night combat operations. The warhead is capable of defeating modern main battle tanks.
Bharat Dynamics Limited and Bharat Electronics Limited are the Development-Cum-Production Partners (DcPP) for the weapon system. The missile can be launched from a tripod or a military vehicle launcher.
Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh has complimented DRDO, the DcPP partners and the industry for the successful test. He termed it an important step towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
