Metro services across the national capital will begin much earlier than usual on Republic Day, with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation announcing extended operations to support commuters heading to celebrations at Kartavya Path.
In a statement issued on Friday, the DMRC said metro trains on all lines will start running from 3 am on January 26. Services will operate at an interval of 15 minutes between 3 am and 6 am, after which the regular timetable will be followed for the remainder of the day.
The early start has been planned to ease travel for people attending Republic Day events in the city. The DMRC also said that parking facilities at all metro stations will remain open throughout the day to provide added convenience to passengers.
Separately, the National Capital Region Transport Corporation announced heightened security arrangements on the Namo Bharat network. According to the NCRTC, enhanced security checks will be carried out at all Namo Bharat stations along the Delhi Ghaziabad Meerut corridor.
As part of the security measures, parking facilities at the New Ashok Nagar and Anand Vihar Namo Bharat stations will remain closed from 2 pm on January 25 until 2 pm on January 26. Passengers have been advised to plan their travel in advance and factor in additional time due to stricter security checks and temporary parking restrictions.
