Dismissing charges made by the opposition that the government is reluctant to partake in a discussion on crucial issues of national importance, Leader of House in Rajya Sabha JP Nadda said Modi government is always ready to partake in discussions.

“PM Modi is ready anytime to answer any question in the Lok Sabha, but the Opposition is not letting the business of the House go forward,” Nadda said.

Lambasting the Congress  and taking an indirect jibe at Rahul Gandhi for not letting the Lok Sabha to function, Nadda said that the party must not be held hostage to an 'immature child'.

“Union Minister Piyush Goyal has given a statement on the India-U.S. trade deals, as asked by the Opposition. It is a Suo Moto statement, there will not be questions and answers on that,” Mr. Nadda says, adding that the contours of the deal are getting ready and will be presented in the coming days.

Minutes before Nadda's speech, Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rjiju said that it is against the rules to disrupt the business of the Rajya Sabha. He said the matters of the Lok Sabha cannot be discussed in the Rajya Sabha.

He asked the Opposition members to follow the rules and traditions of the house. “All the members of the house are waiting to listen to the speech of the Prime Minister. If the Congress Members don’t want to listen to his speech, it is their choice. But, they cannot stop the others from listening to him,” Rijiju said .He said that the Leader of Opposition of the Lok Sabha (Rahul Gandhi) doesn’t follow the rules of the House.

However, Mallikarjun Kharge, in his speech, after getting the special permission from the Rajya Sabha chairman condems the Lok Sabha’s decision of not letting the LoP Lop Sabha Rahul Gandhi, to speak in the House.
