Coal mine collapses in West Bengal, several workers feared trapped

A coal mine operated by Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) collapsed in West Bengal’s Asansol on Tuesday, January 13, triggering fears that several people may be trapped beneath the debris.

Rescue operations were immediately launched after the incident, with emergency teams rushing to the site to search for those feared trapped. Authorities said there were also concerns that multiple people may have sustained injuries in the collapse.

According to a report by CNN-News18, efforts were ongoing to clear the debris and assess the full extent of the damage. Further details are awaited as rescue work continues.
