An FIR has been filed against a woman named Mahira Akhtar, alias Farzana, for allegedly living and doing a job in India illegally since 30 years.

Farzana is reportedly a Pakistani national. She had moved to Pakistan after she got married to a Pakistani national in 1979. However, after the couple got divorced, Farzana moved back to India on a Pakistani passport and got married to an Indian man in 1985.

She then used forged documents to secure a job in Uttar Pradesh's Rampur and started working in the basic education department by allegedly concealing her Pakistani nationality.

After the department got to know that she is a Pakistani national, she was dismissed from her job and an FRI was filed against her in the Azim Nagar Police Station. The department had conducted an internal inquiry that concluded that she had gotten the job using the fake documents.

“An FIR has been registered under sections 318(4), 336, 338 and 340 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for cheating and forgery. It is alleged that despite being a Pakistani national, she secured a job in the education department by using a fake residence certificate," Additional Superintendent of Police Anurag Singh was quoted by PTI as saying.

Police said that an investigation in the matter is currently underway and evidence is being collected. The police has not made any arrests in the matter so far.
