A fatal accident claimed the lives of nine people and left close to 20 others injured when a bus crashed into a parked truck late Saturday night in the Maihar district of Madhya Pradesh.
While six fatalities were reported earlier, three more persons succumbed to injuries in a hospital, taking the death toll to nine, he said.
The bus, travelling from Prayagraj to Nagpur, struck a stone-laden dumper truck that was stationed along the roadside near the Nadan Dehat police station, located approximately 25 kilometers from the district headquarters.
The bus, en route to Nagpur from Prayagraj, crashed into a parked stone-laden dumper truck, causing severe damage. Superintendent of Police Sudhir Agrawal confirmed that of the injured, six individuals are in critical condition and have been referred to Satna for advanced medical care. The remaining victims are being treated at hospitals in Maihar and Amarpatan.
Local authorities, including senior officials, rushed to the scene shortly after the accident was reported, launching a rescue operation to assist those affected. Further details are expected as investigations continue.
