Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that post Operation Sindoor, he was warned by US Vice President JD Vance that Pakistan was planning a big attack on India and he responded by saying "unhe bohot mehenga padega (it will cost them dearly)".
During the debate on Operation Sindoor in Lok Sabha, PM Modi said, "On the night of 9th May, the Vice President of America tried to talk to me. He tried for an hour, but I was in a meeting with my army, so I could not pick up his call. Later, I called him back. The Vice President of America told me on the phone that Pakistan is going to launch a big attack."

"My answer was that if Pakistan has this intention, it will cost them dearly. If Pakistan attacks, we will respond by launching a big attack. This was my answer," PM Modi said in the Parliament.
India carried out Operation Sindoor by attacking nine terror infrastructures in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) on May 7 in retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 civilians were gunned down on April 22.
PM Modi also launched a scathing attack at Congress. He said, "Just 3-4 days after the 22nd April terrorist attack, they (Congress) started jumping up and down. They started saying, "kahan gayi 56 inch ki chhati?" "Kahan kho gaya Modi?" "Modi has failed"...They were shaping their politics even in the murder of innocent people in Pahalgam."
He added, "It is unfortunate that those who ruled country for so long do not trust India's defence, External Affairs and Home ministers. Entire country is amazed to see Congress give a clean chit to Pakistan and sing the same tune as theirs. It has been an old habit with Congress to have a negative approach to the armed forces. Terrorists and their masters are shedding tears in Pakistan; and watching them do so, some are crying here as well."
