Union Minister Anurag Thakur on Thursday slammed Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi over his remarks on India-China ties in the Lower House and asserted that China took control of the Indian land during the UPA’s regime.
His comments came after Rahul Gandhi claimed that China has occupied 4,000 Sq km of Indian land.
It's a known fact that China is occupying 4,000 Sq km of our territory.I was shocked sometime back to see our Foreign Secretary cutting a cake with the Chinese Ambassador. The question is, what exactly is happening to this territory? 4,000 Sq km pic.twitter.com/uI9yvu6DN7

“There should be status quo, and we should get our land back. It has also come to my knowledge that the Prime Minister and President have written to the Chinese. We are finding this out not from our people but from the Chinese ambassador," Gandhi claimed in the Lok Sabha.
"What is the government of India doing about our land and what will you do on the issue of tariffs?" the Congress leader asked.
Responding to Rahul Gandhi's remarks, Anurag Thakur asked, “During whose time did China take control of the area? Who were the people who were sipping soup with Chinese officials during the Doklam standoff?"

He also questioned, "Why did the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation take money from Chinese officials? Congress should explain what was the compulsion that China took over Aksai Chin and why did you sit idle?"
“Doing politics on an issue like this will not yield anything, but they (Congress) have to answer to the people of the country about the mistakes of the past," Anurag Thakur said.
