India formally signed the Pax Silica agreement with the US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor on February 20.
Before the signing, Gor at his keynote address at the India AI Impact Summit said that India's entry to Pax Silica will be strategic and essential. He also said that India has deep talent to challenge rivals.
"We choose freedom, partnership and strength. With India's entry to Pax Silica, we choose to win," Gor said.
The US envoy also said that Washington will share trusted technologies with India in a major boost. "India is working on critical minerals processing capabilities, we are engaging with India on this. Will share trusted technologies with India," Gor said.
IT secretary S Krishnan signed for India.
So far, nine nations have signed on for the Pax Silica initiative, including Australia, Greece, Israel, Japan, South Korea, Qatar, Singapore, UK and UAE. While other countries joined in December itself, after the intiative was launched, the UAE joined last month.
The Pax Silica Summit was held in Washington on December 12 where partner nations signed the Pax Silica declaration. The strategic initiative is widely viewed as an effort to counter China's dominance over global manufacturing supply chains.
