AI Summit 2026 Live Updates: Altman says super intelligence would do better job than human scientists, CEOs in few years

Jeet Adani said Adani has partnered with Google to set up a renewable energy–powered data centre in Visakhapatnam, and has committed $1 billion to build an AI-focused data centre, with more partnerships under consideration. He added that the Budget’s exemption for foreign cloud service companies is likely to boost business for Indian data centres, in comments to Moneycontrol.

Jeet Adani, Director at Adani Airport Holdings and head of Adani Digital Labs, said AI is set to redefine sovereignty and argued India’s tech approach must stay rooted in inclusion. He outlined three pillars of 'AI sovereignty,' compute and cloud sovereignty, energy sovereignty, and services sovereignty, and said power grids and data grids have become inseparable. Calling sovereign compute capacity a strategic asset, he said India’s AI should strengthen agricultural resilience, optimise port logistics, modernise manufacturing competitiveness and deepen financial inclusion. He added AI must function as a 'force multiplier' across the economy.

Mistral AI CEO and co-founder Arthur Mensch warned that artificial intelligence risks becoming too concentrated in the hands of “three or four enormous companies,” arguing this would give outsized control over how people access information. He said every country and economic bloc should own enough of the AI “stack” to prevent excessive leverage and protect global stability, urging governments to invest in AI infrastructure they own and distribute it to local and regional providers. Calling India a “extremely large” opportunity, Mensch said a quarter of Mistral’s researchers are Indian and that India’s talent, market scale and ambition give it leverage to build differentiated AI. He said systems have rapidly evolved from “amusing” chatbots to tools that can delegate multi-hour tasks, and urged policymakers to “seize the moment.”

Speaking at the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, Sam Altman said early versions of true superintelligence could emerge within a couple of years. He added that such systems could eventually outperform CEOs and even top scientists in decision-making and research. (Read more)

At the India AI Impact Summit 2026, former Infosys CEO Vishal Sikka said the biggest gains from artificial intelligence will come from connecting large language models to real business workflows, not just building bigger models. He warned adoption remains uneven due to trust, reliability, and hallucination risks, calling AI progress a “jagged frontier.”

Sikka urged companies to build verifiable systems around models, echoing concerns earlier raised by Nandan Nilekani, while industry leaders, including Ravi Kumar S, stressed real deployment, not capability, is the main challenge. (Read more)

At the India AI Impact Summit 2026, Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani urged stakeholders to prove meaningful, human-focused uses of artificial intelligence. Speaking alongside Dario Amodei of Anthropic, he said the “race to the bottom” in AI misuse is faster than progress in beneficial innovation.

Nilekani stressed AI must solve real problems like healthcare access for billions and requires trust, institutions, and guardrails, not just technology. He added India’s large-scale digital systems, such as UPI and Aadhaar, positioning it to lead global adoption models. At the AI Impact Summit India 2026, Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani sounded a positive note on artificial intelligence, saying it will not eliminate jobs but create high-skill employment opportunities.

“We will prove that AI does not takes away jobs. Rather, it will create new high-skill work opportunities,” he said addressing concerns over automation replacing workers. Read more

OpenAI will become the first customer of India's Tata Consultancy Services' data centre business, beginning with 100 megawatts of capacity, part of the global AI infrastructure initiative Stargate, the companies said.

Stargate is a $500 billion multi-year initiative to build AI data centres for training and inference, backed by major investors.

The deal is a major boost for TCS, which in a strategic shift last year disclosed plans to invest up to $7 billion in a 1 gigawatt data centre unit in India.

India has seen a surge in big-ticket AI infrastructure spending, with global players like Google, Amazon, Meta Platforms, and Microsoft, ramping up investments along with domestic companies such as Reliance, and Adani Group.

The world cannot afford to let the digital divide morph into an 'AI divide', and the full benefits of artificial intelligence will only be realised if governments, companies and societies work together, Google CEO Sundar Pichai said, positioning India at the heart of Google’s next wave of AI investment.

French President Emmanuel Macron, who delivered a keynote address on Day 4 of the India AI Impact Summit 2026, said that the French government is embarking to ban social networks for children aged below 15 years.

Stating that protecting children is not not regulation but all about protecting civilisation, Macron said, "India will join such an order to protect children and teenagers to ensure young citizens are truly safe." Read more

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Thursday announced a major outcome of the India AI Impact Summit, unveiling the "New Delhi Frontier AI Commitments" as a shared voluntary framework adopted by leading global and Indian AI companies.

Calling it a "significant outcome" of the summit, Vaishnaw said, "Today, leading frontier AI companies along with our own AI companies have come together to make a set of voluntary commitments - a shared commitment for inclusive and shared AI."

He outlined two key commitments under the initiative.

"The first is advancing real-world AI usage through anonymised and aggregated insights," the minister said, adding that this would "support evidence-based policymaking on jobs, skills and policy making."

According to Vaishnaw, the effort will help governments and institutions better understand employment trends and skill requirements while maintaining privacy safeguards.
