The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) officially entered Bihar’s political fray on Monday, announcing its plan to contest all 243 assembly seats in the upcoming state elections. The party also unveiled the first list of 11 candidates, signalling a serious attempt to replicate the governance model that has defined its successes in Delhi and Punjab.
Delhi model, Bihar ambition
Addressing a press conference, AAP’s Bihar in-charge Ajesh Yadav highlighted the party’s confidence in its governance record. “We have an approved model of growth and governance. The work done by the Aam Aadmi Party is being discussed across the country. People from the Purvanchal region contributed immensely to our victory in Delhi,” he said.
“Our national convener Arvind Kejriwal asked if they can help us form a government in Delhi, then why not in Bihar?” Yadav added, framing AAP’s campaign as an extension of its popular governance blueprint.
First batch of candidates announced
The party fielded Meera Singh in Begusarai, Bhanu Bhartiya in Kasba (Purnia district), Arun Kumar Rajak in Phulwari (Patna), Pankaj Kumar in Bankipur (Patna), Ashok Kumar Singh in Govindganj (Motihari), and Retd Capt Dharmraj Singh in Buxar. The full candidate list for all 243 seats is expected to be released in phases.

State co-incharge Abhinav Rai clarified that AAP will contest independently. “Our alliance is with the people of Bihar. We won’t ally with any party or coalition,” he stated, stressing the party’s people-first approach.
Campaign strategy and star campaigners
AAP leaders underscored their achievements in Delhi and Punjab, particularly in education, healthcare, and public welfare. “Prashant Kishor has just begun talking about reforms, but we have already implemented those on the ground,” Yadav said.
The party also plans to announce its list of star campaigners shortly. Top leaders, including Arvind Kejriwal, Sanjay Singh, and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, have visited Bihar previously to interact with local communities and boost AAP’s visibility ahead of the elections.
