Information technology (IT) major Infosys’ vision is to empower every job role with an artificial intelligence (AI) assistant to help them efficiently navigate their careers and ensure that every employee becomes AI-aware, Shaji Mathew, Group Head of Human Resource Development at Infosys, told Moneycontrol.
With almost 3.5 lakh employees, the HR head said Infosys is introducing an AI assistant accessible to all team members, be it developers, support engineers, consultants, or sales executives, so that they can use these tools to be more productive and efficient.
“One important aspect of our vision and purpose in leveraging AI is Human + AI and not Human vs AI…For an AI era, the existing talent must be transformed for individuals to become AI-aware, AI-builders, and AI-Masters,” Mathew said.

According to him, AI-aware personnel should know how to use AI tools to collaborate and co-create. AI-builders should use AI capabilities as a utility, product service, or API to build AI-embedded or AI reimagined solutions and AI Masters will build models and novel techniques that operate at scale and lower costs to drive value to the business.
Navigating career
Amidst rising anxiety of AI taking over jobs, the HR leader highlighted that the IT landscape is undergoing a significant transformation, leading to a seamless integration of Human-AI capabilities.
Advising freshers on securing jobs in the evolving talent market, Mathew said professionals will have to increasingly focus on tasks that require higher levels of cognitive abilities such as creativity, collaboration and problem-solving.
“It is crucial for freshers aspiring to secure a place in this evolving talent market to understand that technical skills are foundational and are just one part. Soft skills complement your technical expertise, enabling you to contribute meaningfully to your organisation as well as the industry,” he said.
