Zee Media surges 6% on acquiring Prakash Jha's Maurya TV

Maurya TV, a regional infotainment channel catering to the Bihar-Jharkhand belt, was launched in 2010.

Shares of Zee Media are excited on buzz that the company has acquired film maker Prakash Jha's regional news and current affairs channel Maurya TV. The stock has jumped around 6 percent intraday on Friday.

Financial details of the deal, however, are not divulged.

Maurya TV, a regional infotainment channel catering to the Bihar-Jharkhand belt, was launched in 2010.

Zee Media runs the flagship channel Zee News while Zee Business, Zee Punjab Haryana Himachal, Zee Uttar Pradesh Uttarakhand, Zee 24 Gantalu, Zee Madhya Pradesh Chattisgarh, Zee 24 Taas are its other news channels.

At 12:23 hrs Zee Media Corporation was quoting at Rs 11.99, up Rs 0.16, or 1.35 percent.
