Karnataka, the state with the largest tech talent pool and India’s largest startup ecosystem, has over 50 percent of the artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) talent pool in the country, as per the Bengaluru Innovation Report, jointly prepared and launched by Startup Karnataka and 3one4 Capital.
Of the 13 million total population, 2.5 million are in the software industry.
Furthermore, the report states that 20 percent of all the people in Bengaluru work in the software industry and including the ones working in startups, the share would be at 25-27 percent, according to Siddarth Pai, Founding Partner, 3one4 Capital.
“In the last 5 years, the city attracted 58% of India’s total AI startup funding, reflecting its strategic leadership in the global AI race,” said Prashanth Prakash, Chairperson, Startup Vision Group – Government of Karnataka and Founding Partner, Accel India.
Bengaluru has the most number of funded startups in India. Since 2010, a total of 3,445 active companies, based in Bengaluru, have raised capital ahead of Delhi NCR’s 2,923 tally.
Bengaluru also leads the charge with most capital raised by women founders. The city, touted as the Silicon Valley of India, has seen a total of $13.4 billion being raised by Women-led startups, about 34 percent higher than Delhi NCR, which had a tally of $10 billion.
