Parth Jindal has been a regular at the Tata Mumbai Marathon

Parth Jindal, the director of MG Motor India and JSW Group scion, completed the 21 kilometre half marathon at the Tata Mumbai Marathon, held on January 18 in Mumbai. Jindal finished the half marathon with a time of one hour and 56 minutes.

Jindal is known to be a regular at the event, with this year's participation being his eighth time running the half marathon. A number of participant teams from the metals-to-cement-to-sports JSW Group were also part of the event on January 18.

A number of major corporates take part in the marathon every year, with their participation being linked to various fitness initiatives within the companies, as well as employee engagement. For automotive firms such as MG Motor India, part-owned by the JSW Group, the participation of senior management and employees are meant to convey themes of sustainability, clean mobility, and reduced environmental impact, experts said.

Besides his role at MG Motor India, Jindal is the managing director of group companies JSW Cement and JSW Paints, is a director at JSW Energy, and founded the group's sports venture JSW Sports. Through the arm, the group co-owns the Indian Premier League team Delhi Capitals, and fully owns the SA20 team, Pretoria Capitals, in South Africa. It also owns football club Bengaluru FC, hockey team Soorma Hockey Club, and Haryana Steelers in the Pro Kabaddi League.

Apart from the various teams, the sports division headed by Jindal runs the Inspire Institute of Sport in Karnataka, a training centre for athletes across various sporting disciplines, inaugurated in 2018. Key athletes have trained at the facility, including the Tokyo 2020 javelin gold medal winner Neeraj Chopra.
