Hindalco, TCS, JP Power Ventures top buys: Kotak MF

Kotak Mahindra Mutual Fund has enhanced its exposure in engineering & capital goods, telecomn and chemicals space. In the telecommunication segment, it purchased Idea Cellular and Bharti Airtel.

Kotak Mahindra Mutual Fund has enhanced its exposure in engineering & capital goods, telecommunication and chemicals space. However, it decreased it weightage in the metals & mining, banking & financial services and automotive space.

Hindalco Industries, Tata Consultancy Services and Jaiprakash Power Ventures were top buys, while NMDC, IDFC and Navneet Publications were top sells by the fund.

The study of Kotak Mahindra Mutual Fund for the month of April 2013 shows that in the engineering & capital goods sector, the fund has bought Larsen and Toubro, Havells India and ILandFS Transportation Networks. It also introduced Timken India. However, it sold Bharat Heavy Electricals and exited from Engineers India. (View - All Bulk Deals by Mutual Funds).

In the telecommunication segment, it purchased Idea Cellular and Bharti Airtel.

The fund has bought Zuari Agro Chemicals and introduced Akzo Nobel India in the chemicals space. However, it sold Solar Industries India from the same space.

In the metals & mining pack, the fund sold NMDC and Coal India but it bought Jindal Steel & Power, Hindalco Industries and Tata Steel. (Check out - Which sectors are attracting Fund Managers?)

The fund sold Housing Development Finance Corporation, Shriram Transport Finance Corporation and IDFC in the banking & financial services space, while it bought State Bank of India, ICICI Bank and Punjab National Bank.

In the automotive space, it sold Maruti Suzuki India, Exide Industries and Motherson Sumi Systems and purchased Tata Motors, Mahindra and Mahindra and Bajaj Auto.
