Moneycontrol beats Economic Times to retain No. 1 spot in business news

Comscore data for December shows Moneycontrol surged ahead on audience reach, page views and time spent, widening gap with rivals

January 22, 2026 / 15:50 IST

Moneycontrol strengthened its position as India’s leading destination for business, markets and finance news in December, topping key digital metrics tracked by global audience measurement agency Comscore.

The platform attracted 35.19 million unique visitors during the month, well ahead of The Economic Times, which drew 26.21 million, reinforcing Moneycontrol’s lead in overall readership.

The gap between Moneycontrol and its rivals was even more pronounced on engagement. Comscore data shows that Moneycontrol logged 213.33 million page views in December, nearly three times The Economic Times’ 77.36 million. The data shows extensive reader interaction with Moneycontrol’s content.

Time spent by readers on Monecontrol also highlighted a similar trend.

Readers spent about 500 million minutes on Moneycontrol during the month, almost five times the 102.58 million minutes recorded by The Economic Times.

“What stands out for us is not just reach, but how readers spend time and engage with our stories and other content," said Nalin Mehta, Managing Editor, Moneycontrol. "Readers are appreciating journalism that helps make sense of today's complex and chaotic world and we are very grateful for the confidence they continue to repose in Moneycontrol."

The December Comscore rankings once again place Moneycontrol at the helm of India’s financial and markets news ecosystem, pointing to a sustained advantage in both scale and engagement over its rivals.
