Benchmark indices ended on a subdued note, with the Nifty 50 slipping below the 24,400 mark along with a sharper cut in broader markets on May 6.

The index opened flat and briefly touched a high of 24,509 before retreating to end the session rangebound amid muted activity. Most sectoral indices were in the negative, with the exception of the auto pack, with the PSU Bank index plunging nearly 5%, and Realty down 3%. Pharma, consumer durables, media, oil & gas, and power indices fell between 1-2%. The BSE Mid and Smallcap indices fell sharply, shedding around 2%.

Chambal Fertilisers and Chemicals stock hit an all-time high, rising nearly 5% as investor sentiment remained bullish, reflecting optimism around the company’s growth.

Unicommerce Unicommerce

Unicommerce shares ended flat after rallying nearly 11 percent in early trade on strong March quarter results. The company reported a jump in Q4 net profit by 17 percent to Rs 34 crore while revenue rose by 71 percent on year.

Bajaj Consumer Bajaj Consumer

Bajaj Consumer shares trimmed some of the early gains, after rising 5% on rise in revenue at Rs 250 crore for the March quarter. The standalone net profit came in at Rs 30.98 crore, signalling a supporting investor sentiment.

Eicher Motor Eicher Motor

Eicher Motors shares ended higher by close to a percent, tracking gains across the automotive pack. The company maintained a strong market position with a high return on equity and low debt-to-equity ratio.

Mahindra & Mahindra Mahindra & Mahindra

Mahindra & Mahindra shares ended over a percent higher after the automaker announced a 13% YoY rise in net profit during the March quarter results.

Paytm Paytm

Paytm shares decline nearly 6% ahead of Q4FY25 results with divided views among brokerages, some anticipating a swing into profitability while others expecting the company to report a net loss.

Cummins India Cummins India

Cummins India shares fell nearly 5% as one of the top losers on Nifty Midcap index, its steepest decline in nine months. The drop followed the parent company’s decision to withdraw its 2025 guidance during its earnings call, citing uncertainties related to tariffs.

Gravita India Gravita India

After a sharp rally in the previous session, Gravita India shares fell close to 4 percent, however, some brokerages maintained bullish views with a ‘Buy’ rating following a strong quarterly earnings.

Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories

Dr Reddy’s Labs shares ended lower by over a percent amid high trading volumes. Despite this dip, the overall market sentiment toward the stock has remained neutral.

Bank of Baroda Bank of Baroda

PSU lender Bank of Baroda's shares fell by over 10 percent following weak March quarter results. The bank's Net Interest Income (NII), representing its core earnings, fell by 6.6% on-year to Rs 11,019 crore.
