The stock markets will remain closed on Thursday, December 25, on account of Christmas, according to the holiday calendar of the exchanges.
Trading in equities, equity derivatives, securities lending and borrowing (SLBs), currency derivatives and interest rate derivatives will remain shut for the day on both the BSE and the National Stock Exchange (NSE).
The commodity derivatives segment will also remain closed for both the morning and evening sessions. Trading on the BSE, NSE and the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will resume on Friday, December 26.
Meanwhile, the NSE has released its list of trading holidays for 2026. The stock markets will remain closed for a total of 15 days during the year, beginning with Republic Day on January 26. Of these, four holidays fall on Saturdays or Sundays, when the markets are otherwise closed.
March will see the highest number of holidays, with markets shut for three days on account of Holi on March 3, Shri Ram Navami on March 26 and Shri Mahavir Jayanti on March 31. February, July and August will not see any effective market holidays as national holidays during these months fall on weekends.
The stock exchange added that the muhurat trading session will be conducted on Sunday, November 8.
