Samir Arora, founder of Helios Capital expects the stock markets in India to bottom out in the next one to two months, an then rise 7-8 percent.
Speaking at the Moneycontrol Global Wealth Summit 2025 on Friday, Arora said he does not foresee a sharp V-shaped recovery as such rebounds typically require government intervention.
Commenting on the correction in the small and midcap segments, he said investors should focus on the duration of the downturn rather than the extent of the fall. "A bear market exists in only 10 percent of the stocks, meaning 90 percent of the market is fine," he added.
He acknowledged that excesses were visible in the small and midcap space but emphasised that discussions should revolve around the Nifty 500 index. Over the past 15 years, Indian equities have delivered an average annual return of 15 percent in rupee terms and around 11-12 percent in dollar terms, making India the best-performing market globally, he said.

On the US markets, Arora said that he had exited stocks like Google and Amazon, citing an environment of heightened uncertainty. "There are too many variables—tariffs, deportations, firing of government employees. It’s too much confusion," he remarked.
Since reaching its all-time high of 85,978.25 on September 27 last year, the BSE Sensex has declined 11,940.22 points or 13.88 percent. The Nifty 50 has lost 3,812.6 points or 14.5 percent from its record peak of 26,277.35 hit on the same day.
