Chris Wood, CLSA: This week's ECB buying of Portuguese govt debt will only delay the day of reckoning, not prevent it. Our view remains that 2011 is likely to see the end game in terms of Europe coming up with a definitive policy on how to address what is a solvency problem in the periphery. But such a defining moment can only come after a perceived crisis. As for Asia, the tactical viewpoint remains that Asia is vulnerable this quarter to a continuing inflation scare.
