March vehicle sales: M&M reports 23% growth YoY, Eicher Motors 34%

Mahindra & Mahindra and Eicher Motors on April 1 reported strong March vehicle sales by rising 23% and 34% on an annual basis, respectively.

M&M's total vehicle sales in March rose 23% year-on-year to 83,894 units. At 11:50 am, M&M shares on BSE were trading nearly 1% lower at Rs 2,642 apiece. Eicher Motors' shares on BSE were trading 1% lower at Rs 5,287 apiece.

M&M's Mar domestic utility vehicle sales increased 18% on an annual basis to 48,048 units, as compared to 40,631 units in the same month last year.

Royal Enfield-maker Eicher Motors Ltd sold 101,021 motorcycles in March, registering 34% year-on-year growth.

We also started the deliveries of our Electric Origin SUVs, where we see a strong continued demand momentum. The year ended on a very positive note with us selling over 5 lakh SUVs in the domestic market for the first time ever.”

Wholesale sales of Royal Enfield's models with engine capacity of up to 350 cubic centimetres in March were 87,312 units, 32% higher year-on-year.

For the fiscal 2024-25, the total domestic passenger vehicles (PV) sales were at 5,51,487 units, as against 4,59,877 units in 2023-24, a growth of 20%, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) said in a statement.

The company said its overall PV sales in March was at 50,835 units, including exports.

The domestic sales for commercial vehicles stood at 23,951 units last month, it added.
