Looking forward to meeting with PM Modi in India, says Elon Musk amid Tesla entry buzz

India announced a new EV policy last month that will reduce import duties on some models from 100 percent to 15 percent provided a company spends at least $500 million and establishes a facility

When Musk and Modi last met in June in New York, Tesla was considering building a factory in India and spent months lobbying that country to reduce import levies on electric cars.

Elon Musk is looking forward to meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, tweeted the Tesla Chief on April 10, following a Reuters report stating about his visit to India this month.

Musk took to microblogging site X on April 10 to share the announcement.
"Looking forward to meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi," he wrote.

Musk will be visiting India to meet PM Modi and will likely make an announcement on plans to invest and open a new factory in the country, two sources with direct knowledge said, as per the report.

The two sources, who wished to remain anonymous due to the confidentiality of the trip specifics, stated that the billionaire will see Modi in New Delhi during the week of April 22 and will unveil his plans for India separately.
