Employees of information technology (IT) firms Infosys and HCLTech travelling through the Middle East en route to the Mobile World Congress (MWC) have been affected by flight disruptions triggered by the escalating Iran conflict, though all personnel are safe, according to people aware of the matter.

Several executives from the two IT services companies were in transit through regional aviation hubs while travelling to Barcelona for the annual telecom industry event when airspace restrictions and flight cancellations disrupted schedules, the people cited above said.

Moneycontrol reached out to the companies, which have not issued official statements yet.

The travel disruption follows widespread airspace closures and flight cancellations across parts of the Middle East as the Iran conflict intensified, forcing airlines to reroute or suspend services and leaving passengers stranded at multiple transit hubs.

Meanwhile, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has taken broader precautionary measures, suspending all business travel to and from the Middle East and advising employees in the region to remain indoors.

An internal advisory reviewed by Moneycontrol showed that TCS asked associates in affected locations to avoid non-essential movement and stay indoors until further notice. The company has also paused all incoming and outgoing business travel linked to the region and is reaching out directly to impacted employees.

Indian IT services firms maintain a significant presence across the Gulf region, with executives frequently transiting through Middle Eastern hubs for global client meetings and industry events such as the Mobile World Congress.

Companies are closely monitoring developments as geopolitical tensions continue to disrupt international travel, prioritising employee safety while working to manage travel delays and ensure continuity of business engagements.
