IndiGo extends Middle East flight suspension, offers full refunds and waivers amid safety concerns

IndiGo, on Sunday, extended the temporary suspension of select international flights using Middle East airspace until March 2, 23:59 IST, citing heightened regional tensions and prioritising passenger and crew safety.

In an official advisory, the airline said, "We continue to observe developments across parts of the Middle East and surrounding regions with utmost attentiveness. We understand that this period may feel uncertain, and we want to reassure you that every decision is being taken with care and prudence."

The airline noted that the extension is a precautionary measure to maintain the highest safety standards. Passengers affected by cancellations can choose alternate flight options or claim a full refund.

IndiGo is also offering full flexibility and waivers for travel to and from the Middle East and other impacted international sectors until March 7, for bookings made on or before February 28.

Customers may reschedule or opt for a full refund at no additional cost, the advisory stated.

The airline urged travelers to monitor flight status on its official website before proceeding to airports, adding, "As circumstances remain dynamic, further schedule adjustments may be required. Should there be any changes affecting your journey, we will communicate them promptly through your registered contact details."

Meanwhile, the Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi advised the Indian community in the UAE to remain cautious of misinformation.

The embassy warned against rumours and fake news, directing residents to follow official updates from Indian diplomatic missions and UAE authorities, including the Embassy of India, Abu Dhabi (@IndembAbudhabi), Consulate General of India, Dubai (@cgidubai), UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (@mofauae), Ministry of Defence (@modgovae), Ministry of Interior (@moiuae), National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (@NCEMAUAE), Emirates News Agency (@WAMNEWS_ENG), and other official UAE media offices. The advisory also stressed exercising caution when posting information on social media regarding the situation.
