IIT Kanpur announces new batches for eMasters degree program

The announcement comes as the eMasters Degree Program celebrates the milestone of achieving 1,000 enrollments after its launch in January 2022.

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur announced that the new cohorts for its eMasters degree program will be in 10 specialised cutting-edge fields.

These will include Data Science and Business Analytics, Next Generation Wireless Technologies, Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Financial Technology and Management, Business Finance, Public Policy, Climate Finance and Sustainability, Quantitative Finance and Risk Management, and Sustainable Construction Practices and Project Management.

The announcement comes as the eMasters Degree Program celebrates the milestone of achieving 1,000 enrollments after its launch in January 2022.

The executive-friendly programs which do not require a GATE score and can be pursued without interrupting professional careers have seen immense popularity among professionals leading to this landmark achievement, IIT Kanpur said in a statement.

“With India emerging as a powerhouse in various domains, there was an urgent need to address the skill gaps given the rapid technological advancements. eMasters program addresses the evolving needs of the industry by empowering professionals and spurring innovation and expertise. We are to keep this momentum going with new cohorts of the eMasters degree program in 10 specialized domains. We are confident that this will aid in ensuring India's sustained growth and leadership in transformative domains,” said Professor S Ganesh, Director of IIT Kanpur.

The new programs are offered in a high-impact format with a judicious mix of weekend-only live interactive classes and self-paced learning modules. The 60-credit, 12-module industry-aligned curriculum is taught by faculty and researchers from IIT Kanpur. Program participants gain access to the IITK Incubation Cell and alumni network.

As a part of the immersive learning experience, participants visit the IIT Kanpur campus to meet the faculty and network with experienced professionals.

The eMasters also offer flexibility in time for completion, ranging from 1 to 3 years, allowing busy professionals the freedom to pursue and complete the course at their convenience.

So far, over 220 professionals have graduated with an eMasters degree from IIT Kanpur. A significant portion of participants come from engineering and development backgrounds, with a notable contribution from managerial roles, followed by analysts and leadership roles.

Furthermore, past participants exhibit diverse professional backgrounds. 30 percent come with less than 5 years of experience, 24 percent with 5-10 years, and a notable 46 percent boasting over 10 years of expertise.

Unlike most diploma or professional courses, the eMasters degree program at IIT Kanpur also gives formal Senate-approved degrees at the convocation.
