Work hard in silence and let your success make the noise.

The story of startup founders Mike Cannon Brookes and Scott Farquhar establishes this fact.

Brookes and Farquhar, hailing from Australia, are co-founders of enterprise software firm Atlassian, a little-known company that serves some seriously high-profile clients including Tesla, SpaceX, Spotify and every Ivy league University.

Atlassian’s first quarter report unveiled last week showed a YoY revenue growth of 42 percent and strong earnings projections. This caused a zoom up of 25 percent on its stock prices in the 24 hours on Friday.

Cannon-Brookes and Farquhar own around three-fifths of the business shares between them and each of them gained around USD 700 million in terms of profit in their personal kitties.

Both the techies are presently estimated to have around USD 3.4 billion apiece, as per Forbes real time rankings of the world’s richest people. This is a USD 900 million jump from their previously estimated fortune of USD 2.6 billion in May.

The two studied at the University of South Wales where they were part of the same scholarship group after which they went on to start Atlassian.

After their graduation was done with, the two started coding from their bedrooms, for a startup idea that involved providing software support to a Swedish tech firm.

They eventually zeroed in on Jira, a bug-tracking tool for developers. Apart from JIRA, its productivity suite includes developer collaborations tools Bitbucket and Stride - an alternative for Slack. Atlassian also acquired Trello in January.

The key game changer in their business plan was to offer their products for global sale online.

They also offer products like Confluence, a knowledge sharing app, and HipChat, a messaging service.
