Gatekeepers of Governance Summit: M Damodaran, Anand Mahindra, Uday Kotak, Deepak Parekh to lead discussions

The year gone by has witnessed more manifestations of crimes, transgressions, and shortcomings, than ever before, in the Corporate Governance space. SEBI and the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) are working overtime to plug the perceived gaps in regulation and law. Stakeholders are watching with disbelief and dismay, as institutional and individual reputations take a deservedly strong beating.

It is in this background that Excellence Enablers, a niche Corporate Governance advisory firm, founded by M Damodaran, former Chairman SEBI, is organising the Fifth Annual two-day Corporate Governance Summit, Gatekeepers of Governance, on November 29 and 30, 2018 at Trident Hotel, Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai. The summit will witness the participation of all stakeholders, including, but not limited to, regulators, KMPs, corporate chieftains, lawyers, chartered accountants, other professionals, and Board members.

The inaugural session on November 29 will feature a conversation between Anand Mahindra and Uday Kotak, moderated by M Damodaran, on whether the form has overtaken substance in the area of Corporate Governance. On November 30, the plenary session will feature a conversation between Deepak Parekh and M Damodaran on whether governance and performance are two peas in a pod.

This annual Summit, as in the past 4 years, is an attempt to pool the collective wisdom of all categories of stakeholders in order to move in a direction of pragmatic, Corporate Governance principles and practices. While there are, off and on, programmes that address one or two aspects of Corporate Governance, this annual Summit seeks to paint on a broader canvas, in the expectation that the participants will be the flagbearers of the march towards a meaningful Corporate Governance regime.
