Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will on Monday move the Appropriation (No. 4) Bill, 2025 in the Lok Sabha, seeking authorisation to withdraw additional funds from the Consolidated Fund of India to meet expenditure requirements for FY26, according to ANI.
The House is scheduled to meet at 11 am with a full agenda that includes supplementary demands for grants, committee reports and legislative business. Sitharaman will seek the House’s permission to introduce the Bill and move for its consideration and passage.
What the Bill is for
The Appropriation (No. 4) Bill pertains to approving supplementary financial requirements for various government services during the current financial year, FY26.
Such Bills are typically introduced after supplementary demands for grants are voted, allowing the government to legally withdraw additional sums beyond what was approved in the Budget.
The Lok Sabha will open with obituary references for former Members of Parliament Subhash Ahuja (Sixth Lok Sabha), Prof. Salahuddin (Eighth Lok Sabha) and Bal Krishna Chauhan (Thirteenth Lok Sabha).
This will be followed by Question Hour, with questions listed separately for oral and written replies.
Papers and committee reports
Several Union Ministers are scheduled to lay papers on the Table of the House, including representatives from the ministries of culture, finance, education, labour, environment, tourism, corporate affairs and skill development, ANI reported.
The Public Accounts Committee will also present two reports for 2025-26. KC Venugopal and Magunta Sreenivasulu Reddy will table the Thirty-fourth Report on ‘Irregular grant of incentives and allowances’ and the Thirty-fifth Report on action taken on recommendations related to the National Social Assistance Programme.
Statements and further business
Under committee-related business, Kanimozhi Karunanidhi and Malvika Devi will lay the final action taken statement of the Standing Committee on Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.
In the statements by ministers segment, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary will make four statements on the status of implementation of recommendations of Standing Committees on Finance, including reports on cyber security, white-collar crime and demands for grants of the finance ministry departments, ANI reported.
Tourism Minister Suresh Gopi will also make a statement on the implementation of recommendations of the Standing Committee on Transport, Tourism and Culture.
