TVS Motor Company reported a steady performance for the third quarter of FY25, with its net profit rising 4.2 percent on-year to Rs 618 crore during the quarter, driven by higher sales volumes and improved operational efficiency.
The automaker's revenue from operations increased by 10 percent year-on-year to Rs 9,097 crore. This was a rise from Rs 8,245 crore reported in the same quarter of the previous year, reflecting sustained demand across its product portfolio.
TVS Motor share price extended the day's gains post Q3 results release, and jumped more than 5 percent to trade at Rs 2,348 on NSE.
TVS Motor's operating EBITDA grew by a robust 17 percent year-on-year to Rs 1,081 crore, compared to Rs 924 crore in Q3 FY24. Consequently, the EBITDA margin improved to 11.9 percent, up from 11.2 percent in the year-ago period, marking the highest margin achieved by the company so far.
Profit before tax (PBT) for the quarter stood at Rs 837 crore, an increase of 8 percent from Rs 775 crore in Q3 FY24. However, the PBT figure included a fair valuation loss of Rs 41 crore during the quarter, in contrast to a gain of Rs 65 crore recorded in the same period last year.
TVS Motor's overall two-wheeler and three-wheeler sales, including exports, grew by 10 percent to 12.12 lakh units during the quarter, up from 11.01 lakh units in the year-ago quarter. Among product segments, scooter sales surged 22 percent year-on-year to 4.93 lakh units, while motorcycle sales increased by 6 percent to 5.56 lakh units. However, three-wheeler sales declined to 0.29 lakh units from 0.38 lakh units in Q3 FY24.
Electric scooter sales showed exceptional growth, rising 57 percent to 0.76 lakh units in Q3 FY25, compared to 0.48 lakh units in the same quarter last year, underlining the company’s growing focus on the EV segment.
For the nine months ended December 2024, TVS Motor’s two-wheeler sales, including exports, rose 14 percent year-on-year to 34.29 lakh units. This included a 19 percent growth in scooter sales to 14.01 lakh units and a 10 percent rise in motorcycle sales to 16.31 lakh units. Electric vehicle sales grew 40 percent to 2.03 lakh units in the nine-month period, highlighting strong demand for the company’s EV offerings.
In the three-wheeler segment, sales declined to 0.98 lakh units for the nine months ended December 2024 from 1.16 lakh units in the previous year. But the company’s two-wheeler exports witnessed a 19 percent increase to 7.78 lakh units during the nine months.
