IT services major Tech Mahindra's headcount increased by 4,197 sequentially in the second quarter ended September 30, 2025.
The company’s IT headcount, however, declined by 1,459 QoQ and by 2,090 YoY. The total IT headcount as of Q2 was about 78,528.
Overall headcount that includes IT, BPS, sales and support staff, stood at 152,714; plunging 1,559 YoY.
The company’s last twelve-month (LTM) attrition has inched up to 12.8 percent, from 12.6 percent in the previous quarter.
On October 13, HCLTech reported a net addition of 3,489 employees during Q2FY26, bringing its total workforce to 226,640.
Meanwhile, India’s largest IT services company, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), saw its headcount decline by 19,755 on a net basis in the second quarter of FY26, a period when the company announced plans to let go of about 2 percent of its workforce, or roughly 12,000 employees.
With the latest increase, TCS now employs 5,93,314 people, the company said on October 9.
Tech Mahindra announced its Q2 earnings on October, 14 reporting 4.5% decline in net profit at Rs 1,195 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2025.
However, the firm's revenue from operations rose 5.1% to Rs 13,995 crore in Q2FY26, aided by strength in its banking and manufacturing verticals despite US tariff-related uncertainty and mounting risks from a tightening US visa regime.
On sequential basis, Tech Mahindra's net profit and revenue rose 4.7% and 4.8%, respectively.
