Eicher Motors Q1 net profit rises 20% to Rs 1,101 crore, beats estimates

For Q1 FY 2024-25, Eicher Motors Ltd recorded best ever total revenue from operations at Rs 4,393 crore (up 10 percent), EBITDA at Rs 1,165 crores (up 14 percent) and Profit after Tax at Rs 1,101 crores (up 20 percent)

    Eicher Motors Limited (EML) on August 8 reported consolidated net profit of Rs 1,101 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2024, up by 20 percent on a year-on-Year (YoY) basis, riding on favourable commodity prices, inventory benefits, and positive volume growth in the Royal Enfield (RE) segment. Its Profit After Tax (PAT) in the year-ago period was Rs 918 crore.

    The company’s  total revenue from operations stood at Rs 4,393 crore,  which is an uptick of 10.2 percent as compared to Rs 3,986 crore in Q1FY24.

    The results exceeded analysts’ expectations as the average estimate of seven brokerage firms pegged the company’s net profit at Rs 991 crore and revenue at Rs 4,207 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2024.

    The company's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization or EBITDA rose 14.1 percent to Rs 1,165.5 crore in Q1FY25 as against Rs 1,021 crore in Q1FY24. Its margin was 26.5 percent in June quarter versus 25.6 percent in the year-ago period.

    Talking about Eicher Motors’ performance, Siddhartha Lal, Managing Director, Eicher Motors Ltd said: “After a strong performance in FY24, we have started this year on a confident note, registering our best ever quarterly financial performance with both Royal Enfield and VECV reporting steady growth. We have a robust product calendar for the rest of the year as well, and are getting ready to launch the 2024 Classic very soon."

    Royal Enfield, a key division of Eicher Motors, sold 2,27,736 motorcycles in Q1  FY 2024-25, slightly up from the 2,25,368 motorcycles sold during the same period in FY 2023-24

    Speaking on Royal Enfield’s performance, B Govindarajan, CEO - Royal Enfield and Wholetime Director, EML said, "Royal Enfield has witnessed a good start to FY25. Our diverse product range has strengthened our position in the mid-size segment across the globe. This quarter has been particularly notable for our performance in the international markets. We have launched Himalayan 450 across APAC, EU, UK, and Mexico."

    For the same period, VECV, another division of Eicher Motors, reported a revenue from operations of Rs 5,070 crore, up by 1.8 percent over the previous year’s revenue of Rs 4,980 crore. EBITDA for the first quarter was Rs 385 crore as compared to Rs 387 crore last year. Profit after tax stood at Rs 319 crore as against Rs 181 crore last year. VECV recorded sales of 19,702 vehicles for FY25 over 19,571 vehicles in FY24.

    Speaking on VECV’s performance Vinod Aggarwal, MD and CEO VECV said, “VECV delivered its highest ever first quarter sales during Q1 FY25 growing 0.7 percent over Q1 FY24. We also continued to deliver new products and variants in line with developments in the industry. During the quarter, margins remained under pressure due to a competitive market situation.”
