Chinese smartphone giant Oppo has leased 4,30,400 square feet of space to electronics manufacturer Bhagwati Products Ltd for a starting monthly rent of Rs 1.04 crore in Greater Noida's Ecotech, according to property registration documents accessed by Propstack. The documents show that the lease will last for 58 months starting Januray 1, 2026, with an escalation of 5 percent after 24 months.
The fresh lease covers the first, second, and third floors of the property, registration documents show. Bhagwati Products, the electronics manufacturing services (EMS) arm of Indian smartphone and electronics firm Micromax, manufactures phones for Oppo, and also has a joint venture with Chinese electronics firm Huaqin.
In 2025, Moneycontrol reported that Oppo, under pressure from the Indian government to localise its smartphone manufacturing, was in talks with multiple EMS firms to produce smartphones for the Indian market, with the Bhagwati-Huaqin joint venture among those it outsourced production to. Oppo was in talks with Tata Group firm Tata Electronics to outsource production, with Tata Electronics also manufacturing Apple's iPhones in India.
Other Chinese firms with a large Indian presence, such as Vivo, formed a joint venture with Dixon Technologies to increase local manufacturing. Vivo and Oppo are generally at or near the top of the charts in terms of market share for smartphone volumes, with both brands also aiming for a higher market share in value terms through increased sales of premium smartphones.
Moneycontrol has approached Oppo for confirmation and comment on the transaction, and the story will be updated once a response is received.
