Maruti Suzuki India is looking at options to offset the production lost at Manesar plant due to the ongoing labour strike and may use its plant in Gurgaon to ease the bottleneck, CNBC-TV18 reported quoting Newswire18.

The labour strike at Manesar plant, which produces the Swift Dzire and SX4 sedans and Swift and A-Star hatchbacks, entered sixth day on Thursday. The workers at Manesar are demanding among other things that management should recognize their new Maruti Suzuki Employees Union. Currently the company has one recognised union - Maruti Udyog Kamgar Union.

Production at Manesar plant, which normally makes 1,200 units per day, has been hit by the strike. Maruti Suzuki Chairman RC Bhargava had said earlier this week that the company is losing Rs 40 crore in revenue per day since the strike began.

Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki will shut its Gurgaon plant from June 19-26 for maintenance. The Manesar plant is likely to be shut for maintenance in July, the CNBC-TV18 report said. The Gurgaon plant is not producing the Swift and Swift Dzire models.

Maruti Suzuki shares Thursday closed down 0.7% at Rs 1,215.05 on NSE.
